How Can A Duck Hold Its Own Body Weight With Such Dingy Legs?

The legs are thick and short. Did you ever wonder how a really huge person can walk ? Bones support a lot a weight.
Indian runner ducks are streamline and have thinner legs. They can run fast. The other breeds of ducks are made for swimming, so they waddle when they walk.

Ducks are not as heavy as they look – they have very, very light bones so that they can float in the water. So their legs don’t have to be big.

    You mean dinky ?
They are now so small. If a flamingo can stand on its legs, the duck has it easy.

Birds are mostly empty space inside their bodies (i.e. their bodies aren’t very dense). That helps them fly, too. Therefore their legs aren’t holding up as much mass as it looks like.

The duck, as with all birds has a lot of feathers that don’t weigh too much on the animal, so their feet are just perfect to hold their weight.

in the same way that a bumble-bee can fly with such tiny wings…

    A number of reasons-
    they are surefooted
they are not made up of much mass
they have stubby short fat legs
    supportive and stronger bones
    feathers balance weight evenly.
