How Long Does It Take For Nicotine To Be Out Of Your Body After Your Last Smoke?

My hubby & I are quitting. He’s using the patch, I’m trying to go cold turkey. I know the nicotine will be out of me 1st, but is there a time range specific to your body weight or age?

Actually 2 weeks to get the nicotine out of your system,I know this because my husband needs back surgery which the surgeon told him he had to quit smoking two weeks prior and they would do a blood test to make sure there was no nicotine in his system and if there was he would not preform the surgery. Also the patch or gum have nicotine, but it’s a hell of alot better then smoking as there are so many chemicals in cigarettes.
The urge for a smoke will drive you nuts for a few weeks or so,and you will always crave the damn things.I chose the patch and Welbutrin, there is also Chantex which blocks the nicotine to your brain which in turn decreases your cravings.Wish you guys the best of luck and don’t give in stay strong and remind yourselves what a nasty habit it is,also try sucking on a lemon slice takes your craving away right now!
    From the ex-smoker from hell.

I have given up smoking for the last 5 years after 30 years of heavy puffing (5×20 stick packets a day). Giving up had nothing to do with any illness. I just made a decision and never went back. I still have cartons of cigarettes around the house as a reminder of my bad habit. I really do not know how long you can get rid of nicotine from your body but until today when I cough hard, I can taste nicotine in my mouth.

I’ve only “heard” it’s about 3 years. But i’m not sure. But good for you for quiting! Just keep it up and don’t start again after a few months, like I did. And I still regret it!
