2 Messed Up Scales, Do You Think Im Still Losing Weight Though Since Measurements Going Down?
My calories are 1500 per day. I exercised 5 times a week for 2.5 months, now im doing 6 days a week of 50 mins each day. I do Tae-bo amped/advanced work outs. I dont consume sugary products, dont consume artificial sugar anymore, drink plenty of water, no fried foods, salty foods. One of my scales said 213 yesterday and now says 224, the other scale i have has said 220 for the past 3 weeks. I think im stressing over these scales, but my body measurements are still decreasing. Am i losing weight and the scales are just being stupid? This is what i think since my measurements are decreasing still, and i dont know anything else that i can change for my diet.
Thats funny dont worry about it, Two reason though this is happening – the floor on which your scale is on is uneven, they have to be completely level to give acurate readings- The other reason is you are probably gaining weight – muscle weighs a heck alot more then fat – and is alot leaner – so ya your losing fat gaining muscle – losing mass gaining lbs. Thats a good thing, means all your hard work is paying off.
Muscle is heavier by volume than fat–you are probably building more muscle since you increased your work-out. This, in turn, is making your clothes smaller but not decreasing your weight at all. It is definitely a good thing–the muscle will actually help you BURN more fat throughout the day even when you aren’t exercising!
Keep up the good work!
you shouldnt worry what the scale says!!! as long as your body is physically changing!!! but if you really care then like weigh yourself at publix or something!!!
First of all, it sounds like your exercise routine is going really well, so congratulations. With a schedule like that, it sounds like it shouldn’t matter what your broken scales say. You should just be proud that you are still working hard! My suggestion would be to make sure you are getting enough protein, and a variety of it: fish, chicken, beans and lean red meats on occasion. I’ve been trying to focus on the positive – knowing you fit into your old clothes must be a great feeling. I’m almost there and can’t wait!! Good luck!
We have been conditioned to notice weight instead of size and shape. If you are doing that type of workout and caloric intake (possibly more protein than carbs) then you are not losing weight but gaining muscle which burns fat and increases your pounds for some time. When the muscles are used to burn the fat then your physical appearance shrinks and tones up. You should look mostly at your BMI more so than your weight and keep up with the inches lost for now. I still weigh 220 but I have lost 12 inches all over in two weeks. Why? Because I have replaced fat with muscle.
Keep up the good work. Also, doing that much exercise with your daily work or living routine, I would add a multivitamin and increase caloric intake by 400. It takes calories to burn calories. Especially if you are building lean muscle mass. Adding soy milk – 2 cups a day, a banana after work outs, and maybe a fruit salad and a cup of Apple juice will increase the caloric and the protein as well as the lipolic acids needed to increase muscle and cleanse the fat.
Edit: Centrum is pretty harsh, especially for someone not used to taking multivitamins with minerals, make sure you eat something or have a healthy smoothie with them. Start with gummy vites for kids about 3 every morning then go to a Organic or Natural Vitamin store (Not GNC) and get a multi from there, that should stop that quickly and find them that are whole foods vitamins and natural supplements not synthetics.
