Gym Vs Using Body Weight …?

So I have this class that teaches me about making a work out plan. I made a plan to weight train twice a week. I use the machines that are in my gym. I use 14 different types of machines. For example I bench press 100 pound. I use the preacher curl( bicepts) at 100 pounds. I do Hip Abduction at 259 pounds, and I do Abdominals at 165 pounds.
I increase my weight 10 pounds at least 1-2 times a week.
My question is: If I do not have gym access for the summer (which I do), will doing squats, push ups, sit ups and pull ups be enough to increase my muscle size?
Because I really doubt it and that is what the teacher said. I have been weight training for the last 5 months and I can see more muscle on me then I have ever seen before. I can not see myself gaining muscle by just using my own body weight, unless I gain 10 pounds 1-2 times a week.

If you want to work your body with your body wait do pull ups and different kinds of push ups. People in the army don’t lift weights. They do allot of push ups and such. Lifting weights will make you bigger faster in my eyes. I weight 160 and I bench 280, squat 340, and clean 290. That is quite a bit heavier then what I weight. So sure you can become stronger w/ body weight but it may be a longer process and prolly wont work as many muscles groups as you do when lifting weights.
I also agree with the guy above me. Free weights are the way to go. Also if you want to get bigger make sure to get protein. There is alot of protein in beans, eggs, fish, and meats. You can also buy protein shakes and powders which could help but I don’t use them. Calories are also good. It takes about 35 calories to energize one pound of muscel. Sleep is also a good factor. Your body needs rest and most of the healing process happens while you sleep and you need your muscels healed up to get to the next stage.

It’ll help but to increase mass, you’ll have to lift heavy. Bodyweight exercises can help you get ripped and give you muscle endurance. I see you’ve mentioned that you use machines. While that’s cool, use some free weights as well. You’ll get better results using free weights and dumbbells.

Resistance training is surprising affective. Try using a resistance rope. Also, using a smaller amount of weight and many more repetitions will help tone your muscles- which also make them look bigger. =)
