Is Pilates Just As Effective As Weight Lifting For Women?

I am going on the treadmill and doing pilates. Since pilates is a form of strength training since you use your own body weight/force, do I also need to lift weights?

I would life weights for your arms– pilates hasn’t done much for my arms but it has toned and flattened my stomach like nothing else I’ve ever done.

Pilates is not really a weight lifting exercise. It has some wimpy strength training, but you can’t even compare it with real “iron pumping”. Pilates is closer to yoga than to anything else.
